This position works closely with teachers, special education staff, and school leadership to support students with academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and daily classroom needs. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, builds positive relationships, follows through with consistency, and is willing to jump in wherever support is needed. At IAC, we value collaboration, stewardship, and working together toward common goals. Because we are a small school, this role requires someone who is flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable supporting students in a variety of settings throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement classroom accommodations and modifications as outlined in student plans (e.g., IEPs/504 plans), such as scribe, repeating/rephrasing instructions, organizational supports, and providing guided or accommodated notes, and facilitating task completion Support the implementation of behavior intervention strategies and reinforce positive behaviors Assist with small group and individualized instruction under teacher direction Promote student independence while providing appropriate levels of support Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and adjust supports as needed Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student interactions
Qualifications:
High school diploma required; prior experience in education preferred Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs is preferred
