Bilingual Paraprofessional & Community Liaison Reports to:
Principal Salary Range:
$40,000•$48,000 •Some nights and weekends may be required, however mostly standard workday•
General Description:
: Support teachers and students through tutoring, progress monitoring and instructional support. Connect with students, families and organizations in the local Hispanic community. Primary Responsibilities Assist with presentation of lessons related to the high school ELL curriculum Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups Assist teachers and students to overcome language barriers in the classroom Maintain and record weekly engagements with assigned students Support the teacher in maintaining a classroom environment that is safe, well-ordered and conducive to student learning Check student progress and understanding frequently through curriculum monitoring, group discussions/activities, and 1-1 conversations Meet with students regularly to discuss their goals, needs and academic progress Communicate with parents and other family members regarding student progress, needs and concerns Assist in student recruitment and retention activities, especially in the Spanish-speaking community Provide translation services for meetings between students, families and staff Follow additional directives and assignments given by the principal Essential Skills and Abilities Fluency in written and oral Spanish A passion for serving at-risk youth A belief in setting high expectations for all students Excellent oral and written communication skills Highly organized Consistent follow-through Ability to implement effective instructional strategies Proficient in computer applications Qualifications Associate Degree (Bachelor's Degree Preferred) Satisfactory completion of criminal history check Youth Vision Solutions is an equal opportunity employer.
