SUMMARY:
Provide assistance and support to the classroom teacher and students.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree or two years of college (60 semester hours) from approved institution of higher education or confirmation of passing the MTTC basic skills test. Ability to read and interpret documents and procedural manuals. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Ability to calculate mathematical figures. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral form. Ability to do problem solving. Must show a positive attitude and willingness to help others. Must show flexibility with a variety of daily tasks and interruptions. Ability to prioritize issues and respond professionally and appropriately using sound judgment. Maintain an effective relationship with the staff to establish a team-orientated environment
RESPONSIBILITIES
Clean, organize and straighten instructional and student materials Assist lead teacher with instruction and supervision of student activities in the classroom and outside of the classroom Model positive behavior Read test and assignment to students and possibly reread the material so students have a clear understanding and remember what is being asked of them Assist student with note taking Plan and organize the PBIS activities to meet intervention needs for a variety of grade levels Assess student performance through anecdotal notes, student conference and checklists then communicate progress to classroom teachers Employ kinesthetic, visual and auditory approaches to make learning for students interactive and interesting Transfer materials, i.e. books, paper, etc. to different group locations Other duties as assigned Please direct questions to: John Philo Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Grandville Public Schools 3839 Prairie SW Grandville, Michigan 49418
