JOB SUMMARY
The MTSS Paraprofessional provides instructional support to elementary students identified as needing Tier II and Tier III interventions within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Reporting to the Building Principal, the MTSS Paraprofessional works under the direction of certified staff to deliver small-group and individualized academic interventions in reading and mathematics, support student supervision, and contribute to a positive and safe learning environment. This position supports continuous improvement in student learning through timely, data-informed intervention practices.

HOURS:
28.00 hours/week, Monday through Friday, when school is in session. The position schedule will follow the Hamilton Community Schools school calendar.

$16.00 / hour (base)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential functions are the core responsibilities required to perform this role. These duties ensure students receive appropriate instructional and behavioral support. The MTSS Paraprofessional is also responsible for other duties as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the district.
Instructional Support and Intervention:
Assist teachers and interventionists with individualized and small-group instruction in reading and mathematics for elementary students. Implement Tier II and Tier III interventions as directed by certified staff. Lead small groups of learners and provide verbal and written feedback to students. Support the delivery of intervention programs aligned to student learning needs.
Assessment and Data Support:
Assist with administering and supporting assessments such as Acadience, i-Ready, and other district-approved tools. Assist in collecting and organizing student data to support instructional decision-making. Follow established intervention plans and data-collection procedures.
Student Supervision and Support:
Supervise and support students throughout the school day, including in classrooms and during recess, lunch, specials, and before
  • or after-school activities, as assigned. Manage students in both small
  • and large-group settings.
Support positive student behavior and reinforce school-wide expectations.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Work collaboratively as a member of the paraprofessional and instructional support team. Communicate effectively with teachers, interventionists, administrators, and other staff. Follow the direction provided by certified staff, Interventionists, MTSS coordinators, and administrators. Other functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, staff, and the school community. Demonstrate professionalism and maintain confidentiality. Promptly follow written and verbal instructions. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal or district administration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Knowledge:
Basic principles of child development and learning. Foundations of reading and mathematics instruction at the elementary level. MTSS frameworks and intervention practices. District-approved instructional programs and assessment tools. School and district policies and procedures.
Skills:
Ability to support small-group and individualized instruction. Ability to follow instructional plans and intervention protocols. Effective oral and written communication. Classroom and student behavior support skills. Collaboration and teamwork.
Abilities:
Ability to relate positively and effectively with students, staff, and families. Ability to manage students in both small
  • and large-group settings.
Ability to follow directions and work under the supervision of certified staff/Interventionist. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 18 years of age. High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma required. Ability to read and understand instructional materials. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district and Board of Education policies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience working with elementary-age students, including students with special needs. Experience with Acadience, i-Ready, or phonics-based or math intervention programs. First Aid/CPR certification. Title I Paraprofessional qualifications, as applicable College degree; OR Completed 60 college credit hours; OR Achieve a passing score on one of the following MDE-approved formal state academic assessments: MTTC Basic Skills ETS
