Position Summary:
Sheldon Pines School is in search of a 1:1 Teacher Assistant. The candidate will provide individualized support to a student in a special education environment. The Teacher Assistant will assist in implementing individualized education program (IEP) goals under the supervision of the special education teacher promoting behavioral and emotional regulation. The Teacher Assistant will work as an integral member of a collaborative support team.
Essential Job Functions:
Implements Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) under the supervision of the special education teacher. Responds to behavioral crisis situations using CPI-approved intervention techniques. Supports the delivery of instruction by adapting classroom activities and assignments. Collaborate with teachers and other related service providers to support student goals. Collects data on the student's IEP goals for the purpose of maintaining accurate records. Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in education preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or emotional impairment preferred. CPI, First Aid, and CPR certification, or willingness to be provided training upon hire.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Ability to follow teacher and supervisor directions and work as part of a collaborative team. Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude when working with students who have varying needs. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in emotionally charged situations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, families, and community partners.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods. Ability to lift and/or assist students with mobility and self-care needs (up to 50 lbs) with or without mechanical assistance. Ability to respond quickly in emergency or crisis situations.
Compensation & Employment Details:
Compensation:
$21.99 to $25.13 per hour commensurate with experience
Schedule:
Full-time school-year length calendar with 185 staff days per year
Benefits:
