PEEP Early Childhood Paraprofessional 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 831 Lake Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49001 From $17.82 an hour - Full-time Kalamazoo Public Schools 131 reviews From $17.82 an hour - Full-time This vacancy is for the 2026-2027 School Year PEEP Early Childhood Paraprofessional Edison Academy KSP, Paraprofessional Hourly Rate $17.82 (Pay Rate for 2025 - 2026 School Year) 10-month, Full-Time Scope of Responsibilities Partners with the classroom teacher to proactively assist in the education of pre-kindergarten students. Serves and assists as part of a teaching team led by the classroom teacher. Performance Responsibilities Supports children's growth in all areas of development and learning. Social Emotional (social competence, self-regulation, and internal motivation as a curious learner). Physical (fine and gross motor), Language (vocabulary and comprehensive), Cognitive (early literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies concepts), and Aesthetic (the arts). 2. Assists children individually and in small and whole group times, facilitating and enriching student activities, lessons, and experiences. 3. Communicates effectively with children, parents, families, visitors, volunteers, staff, and others. Assists and participates in Home visits and parent-teacher conferences. 4. Performs key daily classroom functions, interacts positively with children at all times, models appropriate language and behavior in all situations, assists with child observation and other records, and helps maintain a safe hygienic learning environment. 5. Assists children with personal care as needed: toileting, hand washing and other routine hygienic procedures, helping with outdoor clothing, and when injuries occur in the indoor or outdoor classroom or playground. 6. Supports the implementation of the curriculum. Uses and models the program/classroom effective communication and learning strategies. 7. Participates in staff development provided by the Pre-kindergarten Early Education Program (PEEP). 8. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must have completed one of the following: a. An associate's degree in education, or child development, or the equivalent or b. A valid classroom Child Development Associate (C.D.A.) credential. Must have at least a high school diploma or accredited equivalency and at least one of the following Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) qualifications: two years of study (60 credit hours) at an institution of higher learning. an associate degree or higher. passing scores in math, reading, and writing on the ACT Work Keys Assessment prior to June 1, 2017, or the Basic Skills Test of the Michigan Teacher Test for Certification; or passing score of at least 460 on the ETS (Education Testing Service) Paraprofessional Assessment. Ability to speak clearly and express ideas. Good personal appearance and grooming. Ability to develop rapport with the students. Above average reading, math and language arts aptitude. Knowledge of word processing and computer equipment. Ability to handle physical requirements of a job: bending at the knee or crouching down, interacting at child's eye level, using child-sized equipment, and maintaining necessary energy level to work successfully with young children. Must be available to attend required staff development.
