Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities await skilled paraprofessionals seeking contract roles for the 2026-2027 school year in the Lapeer/Grand Blanc area. Up to ten positions are available, with assignments running from mid-August through mid-June. Candidates will have the chance to support students across a variety of classroom settings—ranging from self-contained and resource rooms for those with severe cognitive or emotional needs, to general classrooms for those with mild to moderate challenges at all grade levels. Ideal candidates are compassionate, adaptable, and eager to make a direct impact on student growth and well-being. Some roles will include one-on-one support, attending to daily needs similar to a health aide—including diapering and toileting for students with significant cognitive impairments.
Qualifications and Credentials:
60 or more semester hours of college credit, or Associate degree (or higher), or ETS Parapro Assessment (score of at least 460), or SAT (minimum 480 in evidence-based reading/writing and 530 in math) Official university transcripts required before district presentation Passion for supporting children of all abilities in diverse educational environments Flexibility to work assigned hours (typically 7:15am-3:15pm or 8:15am-4:15pm) Experience with toileting/diapering and care for special needs is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Provide compassionate one-on-one or small group student support Assist with academic tasks and adapt materials as directed by teachers Support routine needs, including health-related assistance Foster an inclusive, safe classroom atmosphere This is a full-time, contract assignment of 37.5 hours per week.
