Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide assistance to students with developmental disabilities, including autism. This role is crucial in fostering a positive learning atmosphere and promoting the academic and social growth of students. Responsibilities Under supervision of a licensed teacher, assist with classroom activities. Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of communications with students. Works with individual students to reinforce learning of materials/skills initially introduced by the teacher. Help individual students with lunch and recess. Provide and maintain positive relations with students, staff and community. Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information. Regular and reliable attendance. Qualifications High School diploma required. Ability to work with adults and students of various personalities, help deal with student conflicts. Possess sound emotional judgement. Care taking training, and/or skills preferable and ability to lift approximately 50 lbs. Willingness to commit to working with students with severe physical and intellectual limitations. Demonstrated aptitude of competence for assigned responsibilities. Such alternatives to above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
