West Bloomfield School District Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, the paraeducator assists certified professional staff with delivering all aspects of reading and writing instruction to meet instructional goals and objectives. The paraeducator is responsible for instructing groups of students, conducting activities in accordance with lesson plans approved by the teacher, focusing on areas of development where students need additional support, developing students' comprehension skills, reinforcing basic and higher reading skills, correcting students' work, guiding student attention to work to be learned, and maintaining group discipline. This positiion is grant-funded and available for the 2025-2026 school year only.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
: Minimum of Associate's Degree or 60 college credits required. Bachelor's degree or higher preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills. Ability to maintain professional conduct at all times. Good attendance records. Demonstrated ability to use technology applications to deliver instruction. Ability to follow directives and work independently. Flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet student needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
: Experience with school-age children in an academic setting. Knowledge of early literacy acquisition.
RESPONSIBILITIES
: Plan, manage, and deliver small group instructional activities. Work with students individually and in small groups to provide support and accommodations, reinforce basic learning, and implement assigned programs. Participate in literacy training. Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance. Prepare educational materials as needed. Assist the classroom teacher with administration of student assessments. Assist the classroom teacher with parent contact as requested to foster effective parent involvement in student education. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
SALARY :
In accordance with the current Paraeducator Contract â€" Classification 47.
Starting Salary:
$16.71 per hour; additonal $.50 per hour for 60 credits, Associate's degree or higher. Comprehensive benefits package.
