Aug 17, 2026 Job Description Job Goal(s): The overall job goal of the CTC Transportation Driver Program Assistant is to assist students with transportation in and around their communities as part of their educational programming. This includes transportation to and from work-based learning, from program to program, or special trips (with prior planning) as it relates to students' IEP goals. Outside of providing transportation, the CTC Transportation Driver would assist in classrooms to provide additional support.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification:
A Driver's License in good standing is required. A Chauffeur's license is preferred.
Work Experience:
Previous experience working with young adults with disabilities. Experience driving students is preferred.
Skills:
Ability to safely drive small and large (cargo van) vehicles across the county in varying weather conditions and at different times of day (dark/light). Understanding and comfort with a variety of locations in and around Van Buren County. Ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with others. Interest and ability to work with post-secondary (18-26 year old) students with a variety of abilities and interests. Ability to form positive relationships with students as well as community members and fellow staff. Ability to have a growth mindset. Ability to remain objective, calm and neutral in a variety of situations. General professional skills, including a willingness to: Make student-centered decisions. Assume positive intentions when working with others. Adhere to federal, state, and VBISD policies and procedures. Model VBISD guidelines: Respect, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence. Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed-upon timelines. Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and the Superintendent.
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to transport students to community and employment settings throughout Van Buren County (using VBISD vehicle). Maintain a safe driving record (as determined by the VBISD Transportation Supervisor). Ability to sit/stand/move for extended periods as needed for transportation and supporting student activities.

As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
