Job Description
Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is an influential school of collaborators, innovators, and explorers grounded in Christian faith, empowering co-creators of tomorrow. MCA is looking for a full-time year-round pre-kindergarten classroom assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. Summary Assists the classroom teacher in leading and organizing the activities of prekindergarten children in the classrooms and the playground by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (o ther duties may be assigned) Helps children put on and remove outer garments. Organizes and participates in games, reads to children, and teaches them simple painting, drawing, handwork, songs, and similar activities. Directs children in eating, resting, and toileting. Helps children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books. Maintains discipline. Serves meals and refreshments to children and regulates rest periods. Assists in preparing food and cleaning classrooms. Assists the classroom teacher, as directed. Familiarize students with and enforce MCA's discipline policies and procedure guidelines for expected student behavior and in accordance with DHS guidelines. Assist in tracking student attendance using the sign-in/sign-out log system. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and staff to create a Christ-centered working atmosphere. Model appropriate behavior, encouraging children to develop positive social relationships, intervening when appropriate using strategies such as peer mediation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and/or other behavior management techniques. Work with your colleagues to develop the mental, physical, social and emotional abilities of all children. Promptly inform supervisor of any observations regarding difficulties in adjustment, learning, social interaction, behavior, and/or the physical functioning of individual children Assist with planning, teaching, and leading summer program activities. Maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff Ensure play equipment is used safely and notify the principal of any equipment in need of repair Maintain and enforce the safety and security of the children with continual monitoring of the environment to ensure safety Assist with cleaning up between and during lunch periods and after recess. Supervise outside recess activities daily Understand various health care procedures according to student needs in accordance with the schools Emergency List provided by administration. Biennial renewal CPR & First Aid training, annually renew blood borne pathogen, harassment, miscellaneous and PreK training requirements as directed by administration Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and in agreement with school policy Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School diploma; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
