The position posted is to fill a vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year. The potential start date for this position could be July or August 2026. + This is a ten month per year position; the work schedule follows the school calendar. There may be additional curriculum days offered during the summer months. In addition, there is potential for hours in July for ESY/summer school. + Under general supervision, contributes to the design and delivery of academic instructional programs to deaf/hard of hearing or deaf/blind students. Provides educational instruction and uses a variety of techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors. + This position will provide coaching support to educators, manage the implementation and training of new curriculum, lead professional development efforts, support district and state testing, assist with data organization and interpretation, serve on statewide committees, and support the work of the School Accountability Committee.
This position requires the following:
+ The ability to meet deadlines and produce high quality work + Strong interpersonal communication skills to develop positive relationships with colleagues and administrators
  • Positions at MN State Academy for the Deaf require American Sign Language (ASL) skills. Candidates will be assessed for signing skills prior to hire
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • + Must possess a valid Deaf/hard of hearing (DHH) Minnesota Teacher license or have the ability to obtain one prior to the start date + Five years of experience teaching and providing intervention to Deaf/hard of hearing and/or Deafblind students in a classroom setting + Knowledge of best practices related to educating Deaf/hard of hearing and Deafblind students + Experience working collaboratively with groups or other individuals + Demonstration of advance skills in American Sign Language + Experience and knowledge of curriculum development and implementation •Preferred Qualifications•+ Experience as an instructional coach, teacher mentor, or lead teacher + Demonstrate knowledge of data analysis and interpretation + Experience developing and providing presentations and/or workshops + Experience creating digital content like charts, graphs, slides, reports + Experience coordinating district and/or state testing •Physical Requirements•+ Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and be able to sit, stand and walk throughout the workday •Additional Requirements•+ Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months
