About Us:
The Behavior Paraprofessional works under the direct supervision of the District Behavior Support Coordinator to provide intensive behavioral support for students. This role is exclusively focused on the consistent and precise implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) and interventions. Key responsibilities include executing behavior strategies, collecting and analyzing detailed behavior data, and applying crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques to foster a safe and structured environment for students.
Qualifications:
Behavior Intervention and Data Collection Executes student-specific Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and interventions with fidelity in various school settings as directed by the supervising coordinator. Systematically collects, records, and helps analyze student behavior data using established tools and formats to monitor progress and inform adjustments to support plans. Proactively monitors student behavior, providing redirection and implementing approved behavior management techniques to encourage positive, safe conduct. Assists in the implementation of district-approved crisis management techniques, including de-escalation, time-out supervision, and crisis intervention. Safely intervenes in physical and verbal altercations, applying physical restraint procedures according to established policy and training only when necessary to ensure student safety. Provides supervision for students during non-instructional times, including school events, meal times, assemblies, and transportation. Professionalism and Collaboration Establishes and maintains a positive and respectful rapport with students and staff, serving as a calm and professional role model. Maintains strict confidentiality of all student, staff, and program information. Attends and actively participates in staff meetings and professional learning opportunities as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned to support the district's beliefs with behavior.
Responsibilities:
Required:
Must meet the Minnesota statute for a highly qualified paraprofessional by providing documentation of one of the following: An Associate's Degree (or higher). Completion of at least 60 semester credits of postsecondary education. A passing score on the Minnesota-approved ParaPro Assessment. Demonstrated knowledge of child development from birth to high school. Experience working with children or adolescents in a structured environment, preferably with a focus on behavior management. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional in stressful situations. Must pass a comprehensive background check.
Preferred:
Previous experience implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs). Experience with data collection methods like ABC (Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence) charting. Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI), or a similar de-escalation and restraint training program. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Pay and Benefits:
