Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in a student's life by leveraging your skills in American Sign Language. This contract opportunity focuses on providing essential 1:1 support to an elementary student recently assigned a signing paraprofessional as part of his educational plan. In this rewarding role, you'll help foster both academic and social success for a child eager to communicate and thrive.
Key Qualifications:
Knowledge of American Sign Language is required; fluent signing is highly valued, but motivated candidates with basic ASL ability and a commitment to learning more will be considered. Experience as a paraprofessional in a school environment is preferred. Ability to support elementary-age children—patience and strong communication skills are a must. Comfort with commuting to Forest Lake, MN, and navigating a large geographic district. Must submit a current resume to be considered.
Your Responsibilities:
Provide consistent, individualized support in line with the student's IEP goals. Use ASL to facilitate daily communication, classroom participation, and social interactions. Adapt instructional assistance to accommodate evolving needs, under teacher or specialist guidance. Collaborate closely with the educational team, including teachers, specialists, and family members. Encourage student independence, self-confidence, and engagement in learning activities. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. This role begins in early September and runs through early June, offering a meaningful, school-year contract with a schedule of 35 hours per week.
