Food provided Growth opportunities Lively atmosphere Columbia Montessori School is seeking full time teaching assistants for our Pre-Primary (2- 3 ½ years), and Primary (3-6 years) classroom. We are seeking positive and reliable individuals who are passionate about young children and willing to work toward creating a peaceful and collaborative learning environment where natural curiosities are stimulated and a love of learning is nurtured. This posting is for a full time position. Shifts may be between 7am and 6pm. All shifts are Monday through Friday. Basic Function Assist the Lead Teacher in providing for the care, guidance, emotional needs, and developmental experiences of young children, and in directing an environment appropriate for Montessori educational standards and philosophy. Desired Traits Organized and detail oriented Positive attitude Caring and friendly demeanor with children, peers, and families Excellent communication skills Patient Strong work ethic Thrives in a collaborative environment Passionate about child development and early childhood education Dependable and punctual Responsibilities Ensure safety of children through active supervision Maintain a meticulous classroom environment through routine cleaning Observe and interact with each child regularly Diligently respond to the needs of children, including diapering, playing, getting children cleaned up, responding to injuries, etc. Redirect children with respect following the Montessori Philosophy and CMS Policies Build positive relationships with children and families Maintain regular and professional communication with parents and guardians, other staff members, and Executive Director Attend meetings and professional development sessions as requested Act as a model of peace and respect for children Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a High School Diploma Must be authorized to work in the United States Minimum of one year of early childhood education experience preferred Formal education related to Education, Child Development or related field preferred Montessori training preferred but not required Be willing to submit to various background checks Be CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or willing to obtain certification upon hire Complete a physical and TB Risk Assessment and provide a physician's documentation of both Possess or be willing to obtain Food Handler Certificate upon hire Be willing to obtain at least twelve hours of child-related training annually Benefit Eligibility Full time positions are eligible for benefits through Columbia Montessori School which may include medical, retirement, holiday pay and paid time off.
