Job Description

Category Schools•Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Provide support to students in special education classrooms within a large, diverse school district located in Independence, MO. This per diem paraprofessional role offers flexibility with opportunities to work 1 to 5 days per week, responding to daily substitute needs across multiple elementary, middle, and high schools.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist students with varying behavioral needs, implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as required. Support classroom teachers in both 1:1 and group settings, providing individualized attention and general assistance. Participate actively in toileting and other personal care routines when necessary. Adapt to changing assignments via the Spindle app, selecting available shifts that fit your schedule. Maintain professional communication and collaboration with school staff.
Qualifications:
Active Substitute or Paraprofessional certification from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) prior to start. Experience in school settings, specifically working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges. Ability to undergo district-specific fingerprinting/background check prior to assignment. Comfort working independently and following behavior support plans. Basic familiarity or willingness to learn use of the scheduling Spindle app.
Work Hours:
Flexible per diem shifts with no guaranteed hours, paid only for hours worked. Typical schedules vary by school level: •
Middle School:
7:00 AM•2:30 PM •
High School:
7:30 AM•3:00 PM •
Elementary:
8:30 AM•4:00 PM or 9:00 AM•4:30
PM Compensation and Benefits:
