Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated educational team as a Special Education Paraprofessional with Autism Experience! In this vital role, you will support students with autism and other developmental disabilities, fostering an inclusive and nurturing classroom environment. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help students develop essential skills, enhance their learning experiences, and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, including those with autism and other disabilities Support students during classroom activities, including literacy, math, social skills, and behavior management strategies Use effective communication techniques such as American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate understanding and interaction for students with communication challenges Help create and adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse learning styles, including early childhood education and Montessori methods when applicable Manage classroom behavior by applying positive reinforcement techniques and consistent routines to promote a safe learning environment Provide one-on-one support for students with autism during lessons, therapy sessions, and social interactions Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to track student progress and contribute to lesson planning and curriculum development Qualifications Prior experience working with children in classroom or childcare settings, especially with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education practices, and classroom management techniques Familiarity with special education procedures, including IEP development and implementation Experience working in private schools or preschool environments is a plus Ability to adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners, including toddlers and preschool-aged children Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and team members Passion for supporting children's growth through literacy education, math instruction, behavior management, and social-emotional learning.
