Simple IRA Plan Sick Leave Free food & snacks Mad Science of St. Louis is looking for a reliable, organized, and enthusiastic person to join our team in a unique part-time role that combines office support with occasional after-school teaching. This is a year-round, part-time position, generally Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role is primarily office-based, but the right candidate must also be comfortable teaching hands-on science and art enrichment classes to elementary-age children when needed. About the Role This position is a little bit of everything. You will help support the daily operations of our office while also serving as an as-needed after-school instructor for both Mad Science and Imagine Arts Academy programs.
Office responsibilities may include:
Answering phones and communicating professionally with parents, schools, instructors, and customers Responding to emails and assisting with customer service Processing paperwork and helping with office projects Supporting operations and program logistics Assisting with equipment packing and preparation as needed Helping wherever needed to support the office as a whole Teaching responsibilities may include: Leading science and art classes for elementary-age students Following the provided lesson plans and curriculum Helping create a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment for children Representing our programs professionally at local schools All class lessons, materials, training, and curriculum are provided. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, and comfortable switching between different types of tasks throughout the afternoon. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys variety, likes working with children, and is looking to build both office and instructional experience.
Candidates should have:
Strong communication skills, especially by phone and email Experience working with groups of children in an instructional setting Comfort teaching both science and art activities using the provided lesson plans Good organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to multitask and shift between office, customer service, operations, and teaching responsibilities Working knowledge of Microsoft Office A team-player attitude and willingness to help wherever needed Access to a reliable automobile every day Ability to occasionally lift equipment up to 30 lbs.
