Monday-Friday, 7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
Part-time position, Schedule to follow 2026-2027 student calendar
Hourly Rate:
$22.81
Substitute Certification Required; Missouri Teacher Certification Preferred

Summary:
Lindbergh Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Teacher Assistant to support the implementation of an alternative learning and suspension program serving students in grades 6-12. This position works closely with the classroom teacher to provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students who may be on suspension, behind in credits, or experiencing behavioral challenges.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to students who are on suspension, credit-deficient, or experiencing behavioral challenges
Assist students with completing assignments, coursework, and credit recovery tasks
Support students in developing organizational, study, and time management skills
Build positive relationships with students to promote engagement and trust
Assist in implementing behavior expectations, routines, and intervention strategies
Support students in developing self-regulation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
Help maintain a structured, safe, and respectful learning environment
Monitor student behavior and provide redirection as needed
Work under the direction of the teacher to support daily instruction
Provide small group or one-on-one academic assistance
Assist with preparing instructional materials and classroom activities
Support differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
Assist in helping students stay on track academically and develop the skills needed for successful reentry into the traditional school setting.
Supervise students during transitions, breaks, and assigned program activities
Assist in maintaining accurate records related to student progress, attendance, and behavior
Support the teacher in implementing program expectations and routines
Help ensure consistency in program structure and expectations
Working Conditions:
Daily interaction with students requiring additional academic and behavioral support
May include working with students assigned to suspension or alternative programming
Requires consistent supervision, movement, and engagement throughout the school day
Qualifications & Requirements:
High school diploma required; associate's degree or college coursework preferred
Experience working with adolescents, particularly students with behavioral or academic challenges, preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in a structured environment
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students
