Building Principal Special Services Teacher to whom assigned Director of Special Programs
For Whom/What Responsible:
To assist the special services teacher to whom assigned.
Qualifications:
(1 of the following) 60 College Hours, Passing Score of Paraprofessional Assessment, 20 HR Substitute Certificate Course
Experience:
Prefer experience in working with disabled populations.
Primary Responsibilities:
To assist the special services teacher to whom assigned and to work with students assigned to that teacher.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The position may include (but is not limited to): lifting students, caring for personal needs, and other duties as assigned by the administrator/coordinator.
PROGRAM OPERATION 1.
Prepares materials as assigned by the teacher. 1. Provides services to students as assigned by the teacher. 1. Provides for individual differences. 1. Assists students in completing assignments. 1. Assists students in moving about the building. 1. Demonstrates knowledge in working with disabled population. 1. Uses time effectively. 1. Communicates effectively with students. 1. Communicates effectively with staff.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT 1.
Assists in organizing classroom to promote learning. 1. Demonstrates knowledge in working with students with behavior problems. 2. Follows classroom management procedures as set by teacher.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS 1.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students. 1. Demonstrates patience, respect and understanding for students. 1. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff. 1. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Participates in professional growth activities. 1. Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm toward work. 1. Follows the policies and procedures of the school district. 1. Follows guidelines developed by the teacher. 1. Conducts self at all times as a representative of the school. 1. Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
A paraprofessional is employed for 7 hours a day for the 175 days students are in session. Compensation is according to the salary schedule set for non certified employees as established annually by the Board of Education. All other employee benefits are according to the total FTE of employment for the individual.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated according to board policies.
