Assistant Teacher (Early Childhood - Ages 3-6)

Schedule:

Regular Substitute Hours for Summer Camp -June 8-August 25th (approx. 15-20 hrs average per week). Transitioning into a full-time assistant teacher position for the fall school year.

School year schedule of M-F 8-3:30.

We are currently seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our Early Childhood (3-6 years) classrooms. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and are interested in the Montessori approach to education.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Teacher works under the guidance of the Lead Teacher to help create a warm, safe, and nurturing classroom environment. This role supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child, while encouraging independence, self-direction, and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Lead Teacher with classroom activities and routines Assist children with transitions (e.g., getting ready for outside, handwashing, lining up) Supervise children during lunch and recess Guide children in making positive choices and building independence Light classroom cleaning and organizing duties Collaborate positively with co-teachers and school staff Embrace and support the Montessori philosophy and Sunrise Montessori mission

Minimum Requirements:

Ability to pass a background check CPR/First Aid Certification (can be completed upon hire) Physically able to work with preschool-aged children (able to lift up to 40 lbs) High school diploma or equivalent (Montessori experience a plus, but not required) We are happy to train the right candidate!
