Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity awaits an experienced paraprofessional interested in supporting middle school students in a full-time contract position. This role is situated near vibrant Asheville, NC, and offers a chance to make a meaningful impact within a Sustained Support classroom, working closely with a predominantly autistic student population. A background in behavior support and experience within special education environments are highly valued.
Qualifications & Experience:
Previous paraprofessional experience in school settings Familiarity with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral support strategies Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and school staff Strong communication skills and patience Experience working with middle school-aged children is a plus Flexibility and commitment to supporting individualized learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on classroom support in a Sustained Support room Assist with daily routines, academic activities, and behavior management Support the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment Document student progress and maintain clear communication with team members Adapt instructional materials and activities under the direction of certified staff
