In this vital role, you will work closely with classroom teachers, students, and specialists to create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster student growth, especially for children with diverse needs such as developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and other special education requirements. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young learners' lives while gaining valuable experience in education. Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with implementing lesson plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and early childhood education. Support students with individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring accommodations are met effectively. Engage with students using American Sign Language and other communication strategies to promote understanding and participation. Manage classroom behavior through positive behavior management techniques to maintain a safe and respectful environment. Provide direct support for children with disabilities or developmental delays, including those with autism or in preschool settings. Facilitate activities that promote childhood development, including Montessori or preschool curricula, toddler care, and literacy education. Assist in curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to diverse learning needs and classroom dynamics. Support classroom management by organizing materials, supervising activities, and maintaining a structured learning space. Collaborate with teachers on progress monitoring, documenting student achievements, and preparing reports aligned with IEP goals. Foster inclusive communication among students, staff, and families to ensure a cohesive educational experience. Experience Prior experience working with children in classroom settings or childcare environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education practices, including familiarity with IEP processes and accommodations for students with disabilities. Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder enhances your effectiveness in this role. Background in early childhood education, preschool or toddler care, Montessori methods, or literacy and math instruction is advantageous. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating effectively with teachers, students, families, and specialists. Classroom management skills combined with behavior management techniques are crucial for maintaining a positive learning environment. Previous private school experience or work in inclusive educational settings will be considered a plus.
