Exempt Oak City Academy is seeking a Christ-centered, reliable Upper Elementary Assistant Teacher to help support a peaceful and purposeful Montessori-based elementary classroom. This role plays a vital part in cultivating a joyful and structured environment where children thrive spiritually, academically, and personally. The assistant teacher works closely with the lead teacher to ensure the classroom is well-managed, clean, and calm, allowing the lead to focus on instruction. Daily tasks include helping with classroom routines, overseeing student needs during work time and enrichment, guiding children in respectful behavior, and assisting during transitions such as snack, recess, and carpool. The assistant also steps in to support the classroom when the lead teacher is absent. Additional responsibilities include preparing the environment at the start of each day, supporting students with self-care routines (such as bathroom use), helping with classroom organization, and assisting with occasional administrative duties as directed. This person will communicate professionally with parents when needed, using school platforms, and help ensure student safety throughout the day. Participation in schoolwide community events, monthly staff meetings, and professional development is expected. This includes reading up to two books annually as part of staff formation and completing any online training required by the school's accreditation body.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Experience working with children in a school, church, or similar setting preferred Emotionally mature, calm under pressure, and joyful in demeanor Able to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, and interact physically with young children Comfortable with light administrative tasks and using communication software (training provided) A personal follower of Jesus Christ and aligned with Oak City Academy's Statement of Faith and mission If you love children, enjoy supporting a peaceful classroom, and feel called to be part of a Christ-centered school community, we would love to hear from you.Pay:
