East Carolina University is a public doctoral/research university in Greenville, North Carolina, with an enrollment of nearly 27,000 students. It is one of the largest universities in North Carolina. ECU offers 87 Bachelors degrees programs, 69 Masters degree programs,13 Research Doctoral degrees, 5 Professional Doctoral degrees, the Brody School of Medicine, and the School of Dental Medicine. The School of Theatre and Dance, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 250 students across BFA programs in acting, dance, educational theatre, and entertainment design and production, and a BA in theatre arts. Over 30 faculty and staff support the artistic and creative work of the students and school. East Carolina University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
Job Duties:
The School of Theatre and Dance is searching to fill a full-time 9-month Permanent Fixed Term Teaching Instructor/Teaching Assistant Professor/Teaching Associate Professor - Accompanist & Vocal Instructor. The Accompanist & Vocal Instructor teaches a 2:2 course load, with the remaining 50% covering accompaniment for dance classes (ballet and modern), private vocal coaching, and music directing as needed. This position may teach courses in musical theatre performance techniques, advanced audition preparation, fundamental musicianship, music theory, and/or musical theatre history, depending on the candidates areas of specialty. The position is expected to teach and provide professional service to the institution and community. This position is contingent upon available funding.
Minimum Education/Experience:
A Masters Degree (MM or MFA) in Music or Musical Theatre or equivalent professional experience is required. License or Certification Required by
Statute or Regulation:
N/A Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Prefer five years of commensurate professional experience. Preferred skills include improvisation, sight-reading, and experience with a range of repertoire (classical and musical theatre). Special Instructions to
