Non- Exempt Position Summary:
Cherokee Boys Club, Inc. Child Development Program Teacher is focused upon, but not limited to: classroom management, classroom environment, classroom curriculum and family interaction for infants and toddlers Essential Duties, Requirements & Responsibilities ▪ NC DHHS (Department Health & Human Service) & Cherokee Boys Club, Inc.
Requirements:
Each teacher must be at least 18 years of age for consideration of employment Complete background check, fingerprint submission and qualification letter from DCDEE (Department Child Development Early Education) Must not be convicted of any law involving physical abuse, injury or neglect of a minor Complete a pre-employment drug screening, in accordance with NC DHHS, local and CBC guidelines and comply with drug-free workplace rules and Cherokee Boys Club board policies regarding drug-free workplace TB (Tuberculosis) test prior to employment Submit a Staff Medical Report - Signed by a licensed physician, or authorized professional under his or her supervision Maintain and adhere to drug-free policy guidelines, including random drug testing Adhere to all required guidelines and general rules and regulations. Including the ITERS (Infant Toddler Environment Rating Scale) as well as the ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale) ▪
Education & Training Requirements:
Provide a Credentialing I, II certification from a NC DHHS approved curriculum course for early childhood Credentialing I, II, or be enrolled within six months, from employment hired date, toward completing the early childhood Credentialing I, II. With Credentialing, teacher is required to complete 10 hours annual in-service trainings Completing required Credentialing I, II course, teacher is required to complete 20 hours annual in-service trainings Submit a First Aide & CPR certification, or complete a certified First Aide & CPR course within ninety days, from employment hire date Submit a SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) course completion certificate, or complete the required SIDS course within two months, from employment hire date Submit a Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases including immunizations course completion certificate, or complete the required Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases within one year from employment hire date Submit an Administration of Medication with Standards of Parent Consent course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Prevention of and Response to Emergencies Due to Food Allergic Reaction course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Building and Physical Premises Safety course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit an Emergency Preparedness course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Handling and Storage of Hazardous Materials and Appropriate Disposal of Bio contaminants course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Precautions In Transporting Children course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Prevention of Shaken Baby Syndrome Abuse of Head Trauma and Child Maltreatment course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse, Child Neglect and Child Maltreatment course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment of hire date Submit a Civil Rights course completion certificate, or complete within one year from employment hire date Submit a Fire Safety and EGRESS (Emergency Global Rescue, Escape & Survival System) and fire extinguisher course certificate, or complete within on year from employment hire date Complete all internal program orientations as required from Cherokee Boys Club Child Development program Complete additional trainings as required for the program and employee growth within the program ▪
Classroom Management:
Ensure best practices for the care, safety, and well-being of students within the classroom at all times throughout the day Implementing daily curriculum expectations for student within the classroom Direct appropriate age group activities Coordinate, upon need, maintaining classroom Teacher/Student ratios. Such as managing a different classroom. Maintain daily attendance with sign-in/out sheets, meal counts, head count tracking status, diaper changing record, temperature checks, sleep charts, and student activity record Complete Incident Report for accidents and other physical injury occurring on-site for family contact Performs all duties within NC DHHS and program safety guidelines Maintain classroom environment adhering to NCDHHS licensing standards for cleanliness that include Sanitation of Child Care Centers Maintain a professional standard that meets the needs of classroom environment, students, families, and other internal program customer service Establish working relations with student parents, guardian and family members, that includes, but not limited to, monthly family meeting, outreach for social, physical and mental services ▪ Training & Education Required program training will be supported with leadership and funding for the required training Required training may occur during, or after normal work hours ▪
Other Areas of Child Development:
Familiar with CACFP (Child Adult Care Food Program) guidance, CCDF (Child Care Development Fund) guidance, NC DHHS performance standards, Sanitation of Child Care Centers, North Carolina Child Care Law & Rules and the
Parent Handbook Qualifications:
▪ Applicant must be at least 18 years of age ▪ North Carolina Driver License preferred, although not required Education/Experience ▪ High school diploma, or equivalent required. ▪ Consideration for Early Childhood Credentialing I, II, Administrative Credentialing, and Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Job Knowledge and Background:
▪ Requires practical experience within the childcare services environment, that support a professional and caring disposition with visitors and internal customers of the CBC Child Development program. ▪ Requires knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting operational standards for childcare programs
Complexity of Duties:
▪ Six to nine months would be necessary to become proficient within most phases of job requirements ▪ Communication with public, be it families, state departments, internal departments & customers is required for requests and/or complaints ▪ Must be able to work in a way, that is creative and still adhere to completion of reports that are understandable ▪ Constantly evaluating and modifying existing systems that meet operational requirements ▪ Use problem solving skills that analyze data to enhance job performance, understanding the effects from change
Supervision Received:
▪ Works within the general guidance of the Child Development Manager/Director and adherence to departmental procedures ▪ Has latitude for independent thinking for satisfying goals and objective of the Child Development program Responsibility for
Accuracy:
▪ Work is performed, in such a way, that is safe, efficient and can satisfy the needs for inspection. ▪ Work is performed, in such a way, that reduces undetected errors that could range from minor to significantly effect program operations
Contact With Others:
▪ Maintain a professional decorum and courtesy with contact, ranging from occasional to frequent, being Child Development staff, families, social service programs, Cherokee Boys Club, Inc. department manager/directors, vendors and general public
Confidential Data:
▪ Adhere to confidential rules and/or policies for confidential, secret, privileged and proprietary data/information not considered for public use ▪ Adhere to Cherokee Boys Club, Inc. Confidentiality/HIPPA Policy and Procedure ▪ Agree to a Child Development "Assurance of Confidentiality" agreement
Environment:
▪ Completed, or performed mainly indoors ▪ Experiencing interruptions throughout the workday is normal ▪ Traveling may be required to other CBC locations
Mental/Visual/Physical Effort:
▪ Concentrating and attending to detail are required for sustained periods of time ▪ Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, stretching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, along with pushing and pulling. ▪ Requires ability to hear at proximity (up to five feet) and at a distance (up to twenty feet). ▪ Requires clarity of vision at varying distances
Pay:
$15.29 - $17.00 per hour
