Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Paraprofessional support is needed to make a meaningful difference in a middle school environment near Asheville, NC. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students in a Sustained Support room, focusing primarily on learners within the autistic population. Your dedication will help create a positive, supportive atmosphere where every student can thrive.
Key Qualifications:
Previous paraprofessional experience in educational settings, especially with middle school-aged children Background supporting students with autism or behavioral needs preferred Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers and specialists Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for student growth and well-being Familiarity with behavior intervention strategies is highly valued
Role Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to students in a Sustained Support classroom Work individually and in small groups, assisting students during academic and social activities Help implement behavior management plans and adapt instructional materials as needed Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to reinforce student learning and participation Foster a safe, respectful environment where students feel encouraged and supported Document progress, observe student behavior, and communicate updates with the educational team As a valued paraprofessional in this role, you will have the rewarding chance to see your impact every day.
