Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic contract role as a dedicated Deaf/Blind Intervener, offering vital 1:1 support to a fourth-grade student. This opportunity, based near Wilmington, NC, spans the 2026-2027 school year (August 21st through June 4th) and provides between 37.5 and 40 hours each week. Your expertise will help shape an inclusive, empowering educational experience for a student who relies on tailored communication strategies and classroom access.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Experience as a Paraprofessional, ideally within schools Specialized skills or training as a Deaf/Blind Intervener, or a strong willingness to learn Familiarity with assistive communication tools and strategies (e.g., tactile signing, Braille, augmentative devices) Strong commitment to supporting student independence and participation in all aspects of the school day Patience, adaptability, and outstanding collaboration skills
Daily Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support, ensuring the student has full access to instruction and activities Facilitate effective communication between the student, peers, and educators Assist with mobility, transitions, and all classroom routines Encourage social engagement and foster self-advocacy skills Support implementation of individualized educational goals and accommodations Collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and families to maximize student progress Bring your dedication and compassion to a setting where your skills truly matter.
