Bismarck State College is seeking an engaging and student-focused Assistant Teaching Professor of Electronics to join our team. This position is ideal for an educator who enjoys combining real-world expertise with hands-on teaching to prepare students for dynamic careers. What You'll Do Responsibilities include supporting student success by preparing lab equipment and teaching electronics and lab courses such as Direct Current Analysis, AC Analysis, Digital Electronics, Digital Communication, Solid State Devices, and Active State Devices. Additional responsibilities include:
Delivering high-quality classroom instruction in electronics courses. Developing and maintaining relevant, industry-aligned curriculum. Mentoring and advising students to support academic and professional success. Assessing student learning outcomes and supporting continuous program improvement. Collaborating with colleagues, community partners, and industry professionals. Supporting internships and experiential learning opportunities. Assisting with accreditation efforts, recruitment, retention, and departmental record-keeping. Participating in institutional service through committee work and campus involvement. Engaging in scholarly research, professional development, and community outreach. Performing other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean and Academic Division Dean. August 17, 2026 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in Electronics Technology, Career and Technical Education, or associate degree or higher in Electronics, Instrumentation & Controls, Mechanics, Technology, and 3 years non-teaching work-related experience or Certificate in specific discipline area and 5 years in non-teaching work-related experience or No degree/certificate and 10 years of non-teaching work-related experience. Good computer software skills - Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to teach, mentor, and support students from diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with lab safety and equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators). Will be required to obtain North Dakota State Board for Career and Technical Education certification (up to six years to obtain and training is provided). Nine-month, full-time, non-tenure track, exempt position.
