Job Description

Position Objective:
Work with 4-H members and volunteers to promote 4-H activities through maintaining records, implementing programs and planning events. Answer phones and provide backup to Administrative Assistant.
Primary Responsibilities:
The following is a list of responsibilities for this position and is not intended to be a complete list. Compile and maintain records regarding 4-H membership, leaders, programs and activities into database. Provide information for use in obtaining grants and reporting purposes. Answer questions about 4-H programs and events; obtain information from various sources including local and state resources. Answer questions and provide assistance to adults and youth organizing 4-H clubs to include: making recommendations, overseeing various activities and contests and making contacts requesting sponsorships and awards for activities. Publish promotional materials, presentations and newsletter for 4-H programs; produce radio and news releases and recruit youth to participate. Coordinate and plan 4-H activities such as the County Fair and other events with duties to include: recruiting judges, preparing and maintaining records, implementing contests and overseeing the youth working with the program. Arrange and conduct meetings for various 4-H related activities to include: developing materials for leader training, council and committee meetings; revising and updating handbooks; preparing agendas; recording and maintaining minutes; participating and providing input. Prepare and maintain financial records and statements for 4-H; collect monies and has signature authority for 4-H account. Maintain 4-H related material on office website. Ensure youth and adults follow 4-H policies and procedures including behavior expectations; screen adult volunteers in accordance with the 4-H youth protection policy. Provide general office support to include: acting as backup administrative assistant, greeting public, answering and screening phone calls, recording messages, typing, maintaining materials, maintaining equipment and programs and processing bulk mailings. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications:
Position requires a minimum of two-year post high school education plus three years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience at the time of hire. Must have a valid driver's license. Knowledge of effectively working with the public, computer experience, bookkeeping/accounting, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and maintaining records is important.
Schedule:
