Role:
Merri-Loo Community Preschool is seeking a dynamic and qualified Long-Term Substitute to serve as our Lead Teacher/Assistant Director while a member of our leadership team is out on leave. Ability to join the team immediately as a regular substitute teacher, is preferred. This is a unique opportunity for an educator with administrative aspirations to lead a classroom and support the daily operations of a beloved, 60-year-old community institution.
Hours and Schedule Classroom Leadership:
Serve as the co-lead teacher for the following sessions:
Nursery:
Tuesday & Thursday, 8:00 AM - 1:00
PM Pre-K:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:00
PM Administrative/Summer Hours:
Flexible Key Responsibilities Interim Leadership & Administration:
Support the Director in daily operations, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Manage administrative tasks including registration, attendance, and family communication via Brightwheel . Step in as Acting Director when necessary, maintaining compliance with state licensing and school policies. Assist the Board of Directors with fundraising and community visibility during the leave period.
Classroom Instruction:
Deliver high-quality, developmentally appropriate lessons for both Nursery and Pre-K age groups. Maintain classroom routines and foster an inclusive, engaging environment. Provide regular updates to families regarding student progress and school events. Maintain active supervision of children and physically navigate a preschool environment, including the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Family & Community Engagement:
Manage the school's social media platforms and distribute regular newsletters. Collaborate on community events, open houses, and parent-cooperative initiatives.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven classroom management and curriculum planning skills. Prior experience in an administrative or leadership capacity is highly preferred.
Tech Savvy:
Proficiency in Google Workspace (Drive, Docs) and a willingness to master the Brightwheel student management system.
Certifications:
Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
