POSITION SUMMARY
The Paraprofessional II•Behavior Support Aide operates primarily as an instructional assistant but specializes in behavior support management. Working under the dual direction of the classroom teacher and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), this individual directly implements behavior analytic services, reinforces positive academic and social-emotional growth, and manages data collection to ensure a safe, supportive learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Passing score on the Para Pro Assessment OR 48 completed college credits. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of criminal history background check and proof of US citizenship. Ability to read, write, speak English, and perform simple math. Physical ability to efficiently perform all duties of the position, including the capability to manage student physical crisis situations. Ability to follow written and oral directions, and work with all types of students under varied conditions. Relevant previous experience working with children or a background in education/behavioral health preferred.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Behavioral & Clinical Support
Direct Implementation:
Directly implement behavior analytic services, programming, prompting procedures, and reinforcement systems with students.
Behavior Reduction:
Reduce unsafe or disruptive behaviors through differential reinforcement, antecedent modifications, and/or extinction procedures under the direct supervision of the behavior analyst.
Crisis Management:
Effectively respond to and manage crisis situations, which may include student physical containment or intervention when safety requires.
Data & Observation:
Observe, record, and report the condition and behavior of students, including tracking and collecting various types of data across multiple school settings. Instructional & Classroom Assistance
Student Supervision:
Supervise student(s), keep them on task for programs taught by the teacher, and assist the teacher as needed.
Small Group/One-on-One:
Review and reinforce skills in the classroom through individual or small group instruction (e.g., hand-over-hand assistance for handwriting).
Material Preparation:
Prepare instructional materials and assist with clean-up after activities to ensure a smooth transition between lessons. Life Skills & Operational Support
Personal Care:
Assist students as needed to acquire academic and/or appropriate life skills, including feeding, toileting, dressing, and hygiene/toilet training.
Environment Monitoring:
Assist with playground supervision, bus loading/unloading, monitoring the lunchroom, or other duties assigned by the Principal.
Professional Conduct:
Maintain strict confidentiality and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Professional Growth:
Actively participate in staff training programs designed to increase overall skills and endeavor to obtain background knowledge in related fields of education.
General Clerical:
Perform light office duties (duplicating, sorting, distributing, filing) when required.
COMPENSATION
As negotiated with the GTSPA•$19,741•$27,581 per year.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
10 month year
VACATION
There is no vacation time allotted to this position.
EVALUATION
To be evaluated semi-annually in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of personnel.
