Full Job Description Special Education Aide Summary:
The role of the Special Education Aide is to provide educational support to the licensed staff member in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment. The Special Education Aide will provide support in either the resource classroom or the general education classroom. The Special Education Aide is expected to establish and maintain effective, appropriate working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Qualifications:
Associates degree from an accredited college. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with
N.J.S.A 18A
6-7.1. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with
N.J.A.C. 6A
32-6.2. Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by
N.J.A.C. 6A
32-6.3. A valid driver's license is preferred. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CEO finds appropriate and acceptable.
Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

Requires prolonged sitting or standing Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials. Requires the ability to work in noisy and crowded environments. Occasionally requires stooping, bending, or reaching. Requires some traveling.
Performance Responsibilities:
The Special Education Aide supports the school's mission and upholds ethical standards, including confidentiality and adherence to all policies and regulations. Key duties involve assisting students individually and in small groups to reinforce academic skills, implementing assigned programs, and aiding with classroom management and preparations. They also help with IEP implementation , record-keeping, and assisting students with special needs in all classroom aspects and daily living activities. Aides supervise students in non-instructional settings, assist on field trips, create educational materials, and may help train other paraprofessionals.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with New Jersey state law (Title 18A) and the provisions of the iLearn Schools policy on evaluation of non certified personnel. IND2
