Abbott Preschool Teaching Assistant

GENERAL . The Mt. Zion CDC Preschool in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking an inspired, dedicated, and experienced Teaching Assistant responsible for an Abbott classroom of 3 to 5-year-old children.

RESPONSIBILITIES

. The Preschool Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Teacher to manage the classroom and is expected to have an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices. He/She working in conjunction with the classroom Teacher will follow the curriculum approved by the District and provide input as requested to the weekly lesson plans in accordance with the curriculum, which provide opportunities for children to experience success, develop a positive self-image, develop appropriate social skills, and enhance their awareness; including acceptance of themselves and others. This job requires good judgement, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, adhering to licensing requirements, and maintaining required paperwork and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

: The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and qualities: Associates Degree or CDA with a thorough understanding of childhood development and experience working with preschool aged children. General knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold and Tools of the Mind curriculum is a plus. At least one-year experience working with preschool children in an Abbott district Have a basic understanding of technology and technological trends within a learning environment Bi-lingual Spanish-English is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in English both orally and in writing Documentation of U.S. citizenship or eligibility to work in the U.S.
