They support the physical, behavioral, and academic needs of a specific student or group of students with special needs throughout the school day by leading and facilitating classroom activities that promote high achievement in a positive learning environment. Specific Responsibilities Collaborate with the classroom Teacher, instructional aides, and support staff to maintain and implement a rigorous instructional program. Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students. Assist the teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class. Assist with administrative duties such as setting up equipment, completing attendance, and preparing materials. Maintain accurate and complete records of student's progress and development in PowerSchool, including data entry of grades, assessments, and parent communication when necessary. Plan and lead instruction in designated content areas as needed. Supervise students in the cafeteria, specials, hallways, and on field trips. Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, professional development, summer institute and school-wide functions; Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and social-emotional learning needs, (i.e. restorative justice, equity) Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans. Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration. Implement and enhance the school's systems and culture. Communicate necessary information regularly to students and colleagues and establish a two-way system of communication with parents and guardians to communicate necessary information regarding student progress and student needs; Commit to continual professional growth, participating actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings. Show unwavering commitment to youth by improving the minds and lives of their students in and out of school. Assist in student behavior in the classroom by enforcing rules and procedures within the classroom Assist with anecdotal notes using Teacher Strategies GOLD. Adhering to all school policies, legal and educational requirements to ensure students well-being. Implementation of ECERS (space and furnishings, personal care routines(e.g. diaper changing), language-reasoning, activities, interactions, program structure, and parents and staff. ) Assist in organizing/planning events to recognize and celebrate accomplishments of students and staff. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Designee. Qualifications Substitute Certificate is required Instructional experience in urban settings preferred. Early Childhood experience preferred.
