Job Description
Role Description:
The Special Education One-to-One Paraprofessional provides direct individualized support to an assigned student throughout the school day. This role helps the student access instruction, navigate daily routines, build independence, and receive behavioral and personal support in alignment with the student's individualized education plan (IEP). This is a dedicated one-to-one role assigned to a specific student and requires consistent, individualized support throughout the school day.About Us:

Provide direct one-to-one support to an assigned student throughout the school day. Assist the student in accessing instruction, completing classroom tasks, and participating in school routines and activities. Support the implementation of IEP-aligned strategies and teacher-directed accommodations. Reinforce instructional goals, behavioral supports, and social-emotional development. Implement approved behavior management plans and use positive reinforcement strategies. This role may involve supporting students with significant behavioral and/or physical needs, requiring consistent engagement, redirection, and hands-on support throughout the day. Assist with student needs including toileting, lunch, playground, gym, and transportation to and from the bus, as needed. Promote student safety, dignity, engagement, and increasing independence. Observe and communicate student progress, concerns, and needs to the classroom teacher and appropriate staff. Work closely with teachers, therapists, counselors, and other professionals to ensure coordinated student support. Participate in meetings regarding student progress and interventions, as assigned. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role. Follow all school policies related to safety, emergency response, infection control, attendance, and professional conduct. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required. 30+ college credits or substitute teacher certification preferred. Must be able to successfully complete a New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Criminal History Background Check. Prior experience working with children required; experience with students with special needs preferred. Experience supporting individuals with behavioral needs in educational, residential, or clinical settings required or strongly preferred. Ability to provide consistent, attentive, and student-centered support. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Patience, empathy, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations. Ability to follow direction, adapt to student needs, and maintain professional boundaries.Schedule :
Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-3:30PM, 48-week contractJob Type:
