Under the general supervision of the principal and assigned teacher, the educational assistant performs primarily instructional tasks to meet the objectives and criteria of the specific program assignment. The general classification of an educational assistant may be defined as one who is available in the classroom as a second supervising adult and who works to assist students as defined by the program, performing such duties as reinforcing teacher-presented lessons and skills, reinforcing concepts previously taught, instruction in English language development, cultural presentations, and other school related functions. A certified school instructor, administrator, or their designee assigns the educational assistant's duties. The supervising instructor is responsible for the supervision and yearly evaluation of the educational assistant, and for the instruction and supervision of the students in the assistant's charge.Work Schedule:

1. Be at least 18 years of age. 2. Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. 3. Candidate must apply for appropriate NM licsense for Educational Assistants. For Title I schools and special education positions, candidate must meet state and federal requirements to obtain a Level III license by qualifying under one of the follow: Complete a minimum of 48 semester hours of academic credit by a nationally or regionally accredited college or university with at least 15 semester hours in non-remedial coursework that includes 3 hours of language arts/reading or language arts/reading pedagogy, 3 hours of writing or writing pedagogy, 3 hours of mathematics or mathematics pedagogy, 6 hours of reading writing, and math readiness, or professional education, or classroom management, teaching assistance, or special education or be able to obtain a passing score of 457 on the Parapro assessment.Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 lbs), reaching, squatting, kneeling, and depending on the position performing CPI restraints as learned in training.Performance Responsibilities:
In addition to other duties assigned by the principal or supervising teacher, the educational assistance shall: 1. assist licensed personnel in the school environment including covering classroom when teacher is called away; 2. provide assistance with individual program materials; 3. assist licensed personnel with student discipline; 4. assist in maintaining student involvement in appropriate tasks; 5. assist with supplementary work for students & supervise independent study in the school environment; 6. help maintain cohesiveness in the school environment; 7. display a desire to work with students; 8. serve as a role model; 9. work as a member of a team; 10. communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 11. use current technology for instruction and management needs; 12. comply with state approved Code of Ethics of the education profession and with state and federal regulations. - Organizational skills that allow for efficient and effective time management in order to meet deadlines set by the school, district and/or NM PED.
- Responsible for scheduling, organizing, implementing, and supervising large group student testing programs for the school and monitoring all facets of testing management, including analyzing, tracking, and reporting assessment results
- Technology Skills as needed to implement and facilitate computer based assessments, reports, and records
- Able to facilitate meetings with staff, parents, and students following SAT regulations and guidelines
SAT Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective SAT Process as outlined by the NM PED/Bloomfield School District for students of concern including identification of students, meetings, data review, and recommendation of appropriate interventions.
- Review referral files for completion before submission for further evaluation.
- Follow up and guide teachers through ISAP from beginning to conclusion, including meeting deadlines and following guidelines as outlined by NM PED/Bloomfield School District
- Support classroom teachers in the delivery of appropriate instructional and behavioral interventions, using data to differentiate instruction to meet student needs and assist in the documentation of interventions to determine whether interventions are assisting students in making growth through classroom observations and teacher meetings.
- Schedule SAT Meetings per timelines and identify/notify members of meetings (including arranging meeting space)
- Maintains the official records of the SAT
- Assists SPED Case Managers as related to SAT Coordination of Services
- Assists Facilitators of SAT/Tier 2 Services to students and monitors student progress and fidelity to SAT Programs
- Guide the flow of the SAT meeting and facilitate team interaction at the SAT meeting including developing and ensuring team norms are followed
- Focus the discussion on topic, keep the discussion moving and determine time constraints as needed for meetings.
- Summarize discussions and decisions to report to the Principal/Assistant Principal/ District SAT Director as requested or needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Principal/Assistant Principal
ASSESSMENT
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the standardized student testing programs which includes nationally norm-referenced tests, state required tests, and locally developed criterion-referenced tests (NMAPA, NMSBA, NMSBA Reading, PARCC, Edulastic, EOCs).
- Develop school wide testing policies and operational procedures to include procedures for ensuring the security of test materials.
- Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures relating to the testing function.
- Develop an annual school wide schedule for large group testing consulting with building administrators/instructional supervisors in the coordination of the logistical elements involved
- Supervise, train, coordinate and monitor activities for school testing.
- Manages the distribution, inventory, and collection of testing materials.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Work with District Testing Coordinator to ensure compliance with state and district expectations.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
