Temporary, Full-time TITLE:
Temporary Program Aide
DEPARTMENT
Boys and Girls Club
REPORTS TO
Program Director
PRIMARY FUNCTION
: The Program Aide's primary responsibility is supervising youth and maintaining a safe club environment. As a secondary responsibility, this position plans and implements formative activities within an assigned program area with the guidance of the Director, thus supporting our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship.
KEY ROLES
(Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success 1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of
Youth Development Outcomes:
  • Directly supervise member activities,
  • Promote safety practices in the club,
  • Respond to members' emotional and physical safety needs,
  • promote and stimulate program participation,
  • provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Development and Implementation 2. Effectively assist implementation and programs, services and activities for members 3. Monitor programs, services, and activities to ensure Club and child safety, quality programs, and good appearance of the club always. Track and assess outcomes through periodic activity reports.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. May participate in special programs and/or events. 2. May transport children to activities outside the club premises.
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, and explain guidelines/ instructions.
External:
Maintain contact with external community groups, members' parents, and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Experience in working with children Knowledge of youth development Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems Ability to deal with the general public Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications Drug tests required (DUE
TO THE NATURE OF THE JOB MEDICAL MARIJUANA CARDS ARE NOT PERMITTED
) Must be able to pass local, state and federal background checks per BGCA requirements.
