School-year position aligned with the approved academic calendar of the school and applicable Nevada regulations Position Summary The Instructional Aide supports classroom instruction and student learning under the supervision of a licensed teacher or administrator. The aide assists with instructional activities, classroom management, student supervision, and academic support to help maintain a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment aligned with Nevada academic standards and school expectations. This position requires professionalism, flexibility, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, administrators, and families. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The duties listed below are representative of the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive. Instructional Support Assist teachers with classroom instructional activities and preparation of educational materials. Provide individual or small-group academic support under the direction of the classroom teacher. Reinforce lessons, concepts, and skills introduced by the teacher. Assist students with assignments, projects, and classroom activities. Support differentiated instruction and accommodations as directed by instructional staff. Assist with classroom technology and educational software as needed. Classroom Management and Student Supervision Help maintain a positive, orderly, and respectful classroom environment. Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties. Reinforce school rules, classroom expectations, and appropriate student behavior. Observe and report student behavioral, academic, or safety concerns to the supervising teacher or administrator. Utilize appropriate behavior management and de-escalation strategies consistent with school policy. Student Support Services Assist students with organizational skills, classroom routines, and task completion. Support students with varying academic, behavioral, or developmental needs as directed. Encourage positive social interaction, responsibility, and student engagement. Assist with monitoring student progress and participation. Clerical and Organizational Duties Prepare, organize, copy, and distribute instructional materials and classroom supplies. Maintain classroom organization and instructional resources. Assist with attendance records, grading support, and data entry as assigned. Support teachers with bulletin boards, displays, and classroom setup. Maintain accurate records and documentation as directed. Communication and Collaboration Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff. Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and school policies. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as required. Additional Responsibilities Assist with school events, testing coordination, and campus activities as assigned. Support substitute teachers when necessary. Perform other duties related to student support and campus operations as assigned by administration. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum age of 18 years. Ability to successfully pass all required Nevada background investigations and fingerprint clearances. Basic computer, clerical, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with school-age students. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children in an educational or youth program setting preferred. Associate degree or college coursework in education or a related field preferred. Knowledge of classroom procedures and instructional support practices preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to support instructional activities and classroom management effectively. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students and staff. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to establish positive working relationships with students and staff. Ability to adapt to changing classroom and student needs. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a school environment. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to walk throughout the campus as needed. Ability to supervise students in classroom and campus environments. Ability to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds. Working Conditions School campus environment. Exposure to noise levels associated with student activity. Ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions. Frequent interaction with students and staff. Work schedule follows the approved 9-month academic calendar.
