Full-Time, On-Site Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities. AMS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Paraprofessional (Teacher's Assistant) to join our team at the Nellis Campus in Las Vegas . The Paraprofessional works closely with lead teachers and school staff to support instruction, reinforce student learning, and help maintain a structured, safe, and engaging classroom environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all scholars receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate is collaborative, proactive, and passionate about supporting students in a high-expectations learning environment. Key Responsibilities Instructional Support Assist lead teachers with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and instructional support. Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce skills and reteach concepts. Support differentiated instruction and individualized learning plans. Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom setup and organization. Classroom Culture & Student Support Help maintain a structured, safe, and positive classroom environment. Support classroom management and transitions throughout the day. Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior. Support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development. Operational & Campus Support Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure continuity of instruction. Assist with grading, documentation, and administrative classroom tasks as directed. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet student needs. Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in all interactions. Qualifications & Competencies Required High school diploma or equivalent and passing score on a paraprofessional exam OR Associate's degree or higher Prior experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting Ability to successfully complete required Nevada state background checks and clearances Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Preferred Bilingual Spanish/English Experience working in a Title I or high-need school environment Skills & Attributes Strong ability to support instruction and manage small groups of students Patience, flexibility, and a student-centered mindset Ability to follow direction while also taking initiative Organized, dependable, and responsive Professional and positive communication style Compensation & Benefits AMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support long-term growth and stability.
