Position Title Program Assistant for My Brother's Keeper - One Year Position Only Required Application Type School Related Personnel Salary/Pay Scale One Year Grant Funded Job Description The Binghamton City School District is seeking candidates to fill the Program Assistant for My Brother's Keeper position for the 2026-2027 school year. Class:
This work involves responsibility for the implementation, integration, alignment, and coordination of the community school strategy at the Secondary level, working collaboratively with the school principals and Directors to plan and align services and opportunities. The Community School Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant to the Superintendent for Instruction and Budget. Does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
Implement a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services in adherence with the community school model in accordance with the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) grant, including but not limited to expanded learning and enrichment opportunities, health services, parent/family engagement, and adult education. The primary function will be direct oversight of expanded learning/after-school programs. Ensure the alignment and integration of all programming with the principal's vision and school day curriculum to the fullest extent possible. Advise the principal on how to integrate partners and community members into school governance structures (ie: School Leadership, School Safety, Child Study and Attendance teams). Coordinate needs and resource assessment activities on an ongoing basis, employing a variety of strategies and including a broad cross-section of stakeholders in accordance with MBK grant. Support the research and evaluation of the community school model by supervising and coordinating the collection of data, timely submission of reports and responses to other requests for information made by the initiative's leadership in accordance with MBK grant. Participate in capacity-building activities, including initiative-wide and site-based trainings, network meetings and study visits, and - with the principal - ensure the participation of other site-based staff as needed or required. Represent the initiative in various public forums as needed and participate in advocacy activities to promote the initiative. Execute other tasks as indicated by the Assistant to the Superintendent
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
Good knowledge of the principles and practices of city school district. Ability to plan, implement and coordinate activities typically required in the implementation of service programs. Ability to analyze and organize data, prepare accurate reports and maintain accurate records. Ability to direct activities and handle routine administrative details independently. Ability to express oneself and present data, reports and recommendations clearly and concisely in written and oral form as well as computerized presentation. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with administrators, staff and the public. Ability to become readily familiar with specific laws, rules, regulations and policies. Possess the personal characteristics of initiative, resourcefulness and good judgment. Civil Service Title Program Assistant Job Qualifications To be considered for this opening, applicants must be: Currently, on the Civil Service eligible list for the title, or Currently appointed to the title, or Eligible to take the exam for the title when it becomes available
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development or a related field of study; or Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate's degree in Human Services or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach or a related field aligned with the course of work outlined in the job description; or An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b) above.
