Job Description

Job Title-Kindergarten Teacher Assistant (TA) Reports to-
Principal/Designee Position Summary:
The Kindergarten Teacher Assistant plays an active role in daily classroom operations by working closely with the Lead Teacher to execute lesson plans and manage learning centers. In this role, you will provide critical academic support by leading small group activities and offering one-on-one instruction to reinforce fundamental reading, writing, and math skills. Beyond academics, you will be responsible for ensuring student safety by closely supervising children during classroom transitions, recess, lunch, and field trips, while also assisting them with basic personal needs like managing outerwear or hand hygiene. In addition to supervision, the Assistant helps foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture by implementing established behavior management strategies and guiding children through social-emotional milestones, such as conflict resolution and emotional regulation. Finally, you will handle vital administrative and environmental tasks, including preparing craft materials, organizing learning stations, disinfecting high-touch areas, and assisting the Lead Teacher with attendance, grading, and documenting student progress.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is highly preferred.
Certification:
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or state-specific Teacher Assistant certification is a strong plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with young children in a structured environment (e.g., daycare, preschool, elementary school, or camp).
Legal Requirements:
Must pass a comprehensive background check, and fingerprinting.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, stand for long periods, and lift up to 40 lbs.

Patience and Empathy:
Maintaining a calm, encouraging, and understanding demeanor when dealing with repetitive questions, high energy levels, or emotional outbursts from young children.
Effective Communication:
Possessing strong verbal and written communication skills to interact positively and clearly with students, parents, and school staff.
Adaptability and Flexibility:
The ability to think on your feet, multi-task, and pivot smoothly when a lesson plan, schedule, or classroom dynamic changes unexpectedly.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Working seamlessly as a supportive partner to the Lead Teacher, as well as collaborating effectively with school specialists and administration.
Cultural Competency:
