In this paid position, you will support classroom teachers by working directly with students to enhance their educational experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to early childhood education and special education programs, ensuring every child receives personalized attention and support. Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning. Support students with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or requiring Deaf education accommodations. Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to facilitate effective interaction with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Help manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies. Prepare classroom materials, set up learning activities, and ensure a safe and organized environment conducive to learning. Collaborate with teachers to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students requiring specialized support. Engage in ongoing lesson planning, curriculum development, and assessment to support student progress in literacy, numeracy, and overall development. Provide compassionate toddler care or preschool assistance, including early childhood education activities based on Montessori or other age-appropriate pedagogies. Maintain clear communication with parents and staff regarding student progress and behavioral observations. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in classroom settings, childcare centers, or private schools is highly desirable. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices. Familiarity with special education techniques, IEP implementation, and behavior management strategies. Proficiency in classroom management skills to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is a strong plus. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal skills and ASL if applicable; excellent listening skills are essential. Demonstrated patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with children of diverse backgrounds. Relevant certifications in early childhood education or special education are preferred but not mandatory; ongoing professional development is encouraged.
