Description Salary:
$17 - $17.25/hrPosition Summary:
Children's Aid runs a summer day camp in Chappaqua, NY that brings together children from Manhattan, the Bronx, and Westchester. Campers and staff are bused to and from the camp each day. The purpose of this camp is to provide traditional summer camp activities (swimming, arts & crafts, sports, horsemanship, etc.) in the context of relationship building. The children who attend this camp are from different socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and range in age from 6-13. The Program Aide is responsible to assist in the operation of the program and act as group counselors as needed. They work primarily at the pool. Program Aides are supervised by the specialist in charge of the area they are assigned to. All Program Aides will work most of the time at the pool.Essential Duties:
Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures. Assist in the safe operation of the pools under the direction of the Water Front Director. Maintain all the supplies and equipment used in the program, keeping the storage area clean. Operated the Buddy Board Accountability System. Take up assigned supervisory stations in the pool with the campers to maintain DOH ratios for non-swimmers. Participate in any in-service training offered. Work with other specialists or in the kitchen as directed by the Program Director or Camp Director. Attend 3 days of training and orientation prior to camp. Fulfill job activities not listed here important to the success of the camp.Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age by 6/15/26. Prior experience in working with children in a camp or after school setting.
