Teaching Assistant Summer Session (Hourly)

The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description For a three-month period, over the summer session, Teaching Assistants will: Provide direct instructional services to students utilizing lesson plans, tests and teaching aids developed by a certified teacher, under the supervision of a certified teacher.

Reinforce subject matter previously taught by a teacher by guiding students through a prescribed and frequently repetitive learning exercise.

Administer, proctor and correct tests.

Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current certificate issued by the NYS Education Department in one of the following: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate; ORPre-Professional Teaching Assistant Certificate; OR Continuing Certificate as a Teaching Assistant; ORProvisional, Initial, Permanent, or Professional Teacher Certificate. Additional Comments Background Investigation Requirements:

Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable.
