Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to join our vibrant educational team. In this role, you will work closely with lead teachers to support classroom activities, foster a positive learning environment, and assist students in achieving their developmental and educational goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's lives by providing personalized support tailored to diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate is energetic, proactive, and passionate about early childhood education and special education practices. Responsibilities Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning. Support children with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other special needs, ensuring they feel included and engaged. Use effective behavior management techniques to promote positive classroom behavior and create a safe, nurturing environment. Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods when necessary. Support classroom organization by preparing materials, setting up learning stations, and maintaining clean and safe spaces. Collaborate with teachers to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt activities to meet each child's unique requirements. Engage in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education, special education strategies, and classroom management techniques. Requirements Prior experience working with children in preschool or early childhood education settings; experience in private schools is a plus. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood curriculum models such as Montessori or preschool frameworks. Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder and developmental delays. Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred; excellent communication skills required. Experience supporting literacy education, math activities, and childcare routines for toddlers or preschool-aged children. Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning atmosphere. Strong organizational skills for lesson planning, curriculum development, and maintaining student records such as IEPs.
