Job Description

Overview Working hours are Monday to Friday at 7:30am to 3:30pm or 11am to 6pm (1 hour break) Join our vibrant educational team as a Teacher Assistant and play a vital role in fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children of all abilities. In this dynamic position, you will support classroom teachers by implementing educational activities, managing behavior, and providing individualized assistance to students with diverse needs. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help inspire young learners to reach their full potential while promoting their social, emotional, and academic growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children through hands-on involvement in early childhood education and special education settings. Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementing daily instructional activities across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills. Support children with developmental disabilities, autism, or other special needs by adapting activities and providing personalized assistance aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Use American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication strategies to facilitate effective interaction with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies to create a safe and productive learning environment. Provide care for toddlers and preschool-aged children, including supervising activities related to Montessori or other early childhood education methods. Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop tailored lesson plans that promote literacy education, numeracy skills, social development, and emotional regulation. Support students during transitions and assist with classroom routines to foster independence and confidence. Experience Prior experience working with children in early childhood or preschool settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in special education is essential. Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including those requiring accommodations for autism or developmental disabilities, is advantageous. Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies to support diverse learners. Knowledge of curriculum development for preschool or toddler care environments is beneficial. Private school experience or familiarity with Montessori methods can be an asset but is not required. Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and specialists while supporting student needs confidently.
