Job Description:
This work involves a variety of routine, non-instructional duties to assist teachers. Tasks vary depending on the assigned grade level and specific school needs. The work is performed under the supervision of a teacher or other professional school staff member. Does related work as required.
Typical work activities:
Assists with clerical tasks such as grading papers using provided scoring grids, calculating and recording grades, tracking attendance, collecting money, making photocopies, distributing materials and supplies and retrieving and returning reference materials; Creates and maintains classroom charts, lists, bulletin boards, posters and files; Sets up audio-visual and laboratory equipment; Supports students' physical needs by providing assistance with clothing, hygiene, restroom visits, etc.; Supports students' organizational needs by helping maintain instructional materials, supplies and personal belongings; Maintains a safe and orderly environment by overseeing students in classrooms, libraries, hallways, cafeterias and on school grounds
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
