Mission:
The Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls, The Shirley Rodriguez-Remeneski School (BGLIG) is a free, dual language school, servicing girls in grades K-8. We are committed to providing our students with a rigorous instructional program while building on their leadership characteristics and instilling strong values. BGLIG promotes self-confidence and creates global leaders in all areas: cognitive, social, emotional and moral. Our programs allow each student to disengage from traditional social pressures and focus on personal development and academic achievement. BGLIG's goal of developing college-ready students includes enrichment programs in the performing arts. Position Overview At The Bronx Global Learning Institute for Girls, Academic Intervention Support Teacher understands and promotes the school's mission, vision, objectives, and policies both within and outside the immediate school community. The Academic Intervention Support Teacher collaborates with all members of the school community to support every student's behavioral and personal/social development in a dual language setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

): Instructional Planning Provide support for general education students. Use the state standards and curriculum to create a rigorous and objective-drive Work with Special Education Coordinator, teachers, school leaders, specialists, and parents to implement and monitor specially designed plan for students. Assume personal responsibility for the academic progress of all students. Implement a coherent, research-based curriculum in consultation with the Principal. Differentiate lesson plans to support all students. Document all lesson plans, assignments, rubrics, and other instructional materials and methods. Reviews and behavior intervention plans required by Federal and State mandates. Eagerly learn new uses and applications of technology tools. Establish, nurture and, manage student-directed classrooms in which students are working both independently and in groups, playing instruments, and using dance and movement to supplement and enhance the curriculum. Instructional Delivery Document all lesson plans. Use consistent school-wide assignments, rubrics, and other instructional materials and methods practices, and a variety of individualized methods to engage students in the classroom. All duties encompassed under classroom teacher instruction, planning, and communication and ensure student engagement. Measure student achievement and progress toward learning objectives using the school's formative and summative assessment tools. Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance. Provide ongoing and timely feedback to students on their progress toward meeting expectations and achieving goals. Student Assessment Complete all reports in a timely manner. Use student data to reflect on effectiveness of lessons, student achievement and improve instruction. Learning Environment Create, and manage a responsive learning environment that enables students to feel safe and to develop to their full potential. Implement classroom procedures, systems and routines that provide structure for students. Ensure smooth operation of all classroom instructional functions without exceptions. Student Support & School Culture Communicate effectively and maintain strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and school leaders. Other tasks as assigned by school leadership.
Requirements:
Alignment to BGLIG's core values and mission. Bachelor's Degree required Masters's Degree in the field of education preferred. NYS special education teaching certification required . Two or more years of special education teaching experience in elementary or middle grades with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom. Experience in a high-performing charter or district school is preferred, but not required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff. Intermediate to advanced Spanish language skills preferred. Experience in a dual language setting preferred.
