Based on recent Rochester Academy of Science postings for support and special education roles, the position typically includes the following responsibilities: Key Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group instruction in core subjects such as reading and math. Support students who need additional academic intervention or enrichment. Assist students with learning differences, disabilities, developmental delays, or English language learning needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement instructional strategies and accommodations. Monitor student progress and maintain records of interventions and outcomes. Help create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment. Support implementation of student learning plans, including IEP accommodations when applicable. Communicate with teachers, administrators, specialists, and families regarding student progress. Qualifications Commonly Sought Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. New York State teaching certification (or eligibility) is often preferred. Experience working with elementary or secondary students. Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
